Driver flees scene of Schuylkill crash
State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said a driver fled from the scene of a one-vehicle accident at 4 a.m. Oct. 20 on Sunbury Road in Barry Township.
Police said Anthony S. Drumheller, 34, of Tower City, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on the road when he swerved to avoid striking a deer that was crossing the road. The vehicle traveled across the entire roadway and struck a guardrail on the eastbound shoulder with its front bumper. After the initial impact, the vehicle spun counter-clockwise and struck the guardrail with its passenger side, continuing to travel backwards along the railing for about 150 feet before coming to rest.
Police said the car sustained "significant" damages and was towed form the scene.
Police said the driver left the scene without contacting police and will be cited for roadways laned for traffic and multiple other charges.
