Four locals win in volleyball
Lehighton, Pleasant Valley, Marian and Panther Valley were all victorious on the volleyball court on Tuesday.
Lehighton defeated PM West in MVC action, 23-25, 25-14, 25-11, 25-20.
Jackie Jordan had 10 digs, seven kills and three aces for a total of 10 points for the Indians. Tia Rex added nine kills for nine points.
Lehighton also won the JV game, 2-0.
Marian continues its winnings way in the Schuylkill League with a 25-12, 25-11, 25-3 victory over Minersville.
Marykate Sherkness led the Fillies with 15 kills, seven aces and eight digs. Abby O'Donnell chipped in with six digs and five aces.
Nikki Collevechio (seven digs), Grace Boyle (five kills) and Sophie Myers (five kills) contributed in the win.
Mahanoy Area-Panther Valley
Panther Valley defeated Mahanoy Area in Scuylkill League action, 25-22, 25-21, 25-20.
On Senior Night, the lone senior came up big for the Panthers. Kristyn Gates had one kill, 10 service points one ace and 19 digs. Jessica Wiese chipped in eight kills and three blocks. Kelsey VanHorn also added nine kills and eight aces.
Panther Valley also won the JV game, 2-1.
Pocono Mountain East-Pleasant Valley
Pleasant Valley remains undefeated in the Mountain Valley Conference with a 25-13, 25-9, 25-11 win over Pocono Mountain East.
Courtney Miller paced the Bears' attach with 10 kills and five blocks. Breanna Joseph added nine kills and three digs for PV.
Steph Schmitt (15 assists, three digs), Mackenzie Dorney (13 digs, three kills) and Kiersten Griesback (13 assists, two digs) all contributed in the victory.
North Schuylkill finished as strong as it started to take a 25-22, 25-14, 22-25, 26-24 Schuylkill League win over Tamaqua.
Carly Trovinger led the Blue Raiders with 31 assists, seven digs and four aces. Devan Sweeney (15 kills, seven digs) and Derrian Gulden (13 service points, eight kills, five digs, four aces) chipped in on with the victory.
Rylee Devlin (eight kills, seven digs, four aces), Natalie Snyder (eight digs) and April Donnon (eight service points, eight kills, five digs, four aces) all played well for the Raiders.
North Schuylkill won the JV match, 2-0.
Shenandoah Valley got the best of Weatherly for a 25-13, 25-8, 25-13 Schuylkill League Division II win.
Lindsay Douglas paced the Wreckers with seven digs and six assists. Jess Adamcyzk followed with six blocks, four kills and three digs.
Weatherly's Carly Hinkle finished with six digs, two kills, two assists and two aces.
The Wreckers end the regular season at 0-18 overall and 0-12 in the league.
In the JV game, Shenandoah Valley came out on top with a 25-21, 23-25, 25-23 victory.
Palmerton ended its regular season with a 6-5 non-conference victory over visiting Pine Grove.
Dylan Furry sparked the Bombers with two goals and two assists. Austin Shupp followed with a goal and an assist.
Gabe Scott, Spencer Shigo and Nick Fiouris all added singles scores, while Trevin Green recorded an assist for the Bombers.
Jesse Heffner had two goals for the Cardinals, while Nevin White recorded a goal and two assists. Luke Schwalm added a goal and an assist.
The Cardinals' Ryan Eck scored a goal and Tyler Christiansen was credited with an assist.
The Bombers' keeper Rich Roselli grabbed seven saves, while the Cardinals' keeper Richard Snedden ended up with eight.

The Lady Olympians finished their season strong at home with a 7-1 win over the Spartans. Cat Condly led the attack with five goals and two assists. Rebecca Cressman and Kimmie Conway had a goal each. Autumn Cope had a tremendous performance on defense. Alyssa Smith (five saves) and Alyssa Rusbarsky (four saves) shared duty in the goal.
Jim Thorpe had 17 shots on goal, while the Spartans had 10.
