Barnesville driver facing DUI count

A Barnesville man faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol following a traffic stop in Tamaqua.

Patrolman Thomas Duarte was on patrol at 5:05 a.m. Sept. 15 when he observed a vehicle exiting the Tamaqua Diner, squealing the tires as it entered Center Street. The vehicle then traveled north at a higher than posted rate of speed.

Duarte made a vehicle stop in the area of Mauch Chunk and Pine streets, identifying the driver as James Albaugh, 38, of 11 St. Ann St. Albaugh had an odor of alcohol emanating from his person and was given, and failed, field sobriety tests.

He will be cited for DUI and traffic related offenses.
