Published October 15. 2012 05:05PM

State police at Frackville have arrested two persons in connection with the theft of $1,315 worth of tobacco products from a Schuylkill County business.

Police said the incident happened at the Exxon Unimart, West Mahanoy Township, and involved an on-duty store clerk. It took place between midnight and 1:30 a.m. Oct. 6.

Charged with retail theft are Matthew Bagdonavicius, 19, and Cody Church, 22, both of Frackville.

Police said they are apparent friends of the clerk, who allowed them to repeatedly handle the products behind the sales counter. Police said the clerk repeatedly exited the store leaving the two defendants alone during which time they stole multiple cartons of cigarettes and cigars and other retail items from throughout the store by stashing them in their clothing.
