Deer cause of Schuylkill crash

Deer entering the road was the cause of a crash that occurred about 5:39 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7, along SR61 in North Manheim Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Neal M. Hoffman, 45, of Shenandoah, was driving a 2007 Chrysler Sebring southbound when multiple deer entered the road in front of him. He attempted to avoid contact but struck one of the deer with the front of his vehicle.

Hoffman was not injured but damages were termed heavy to the front of the car.
