October 6, 1972 Northwestern's defense not only posts a shutout but also holds Marian to no first downs in claiming a 14-0 victory. The Tigers, coached by Joe Czutno, break a scoreless tie in the third quarter when Claire Fries tosses a 37-yard touchdown pass to Ron Weber. Northwestern adds some insurance in the final frame when Fred Schlauch blasts over the goal line from a yard out. Joey House finishes with 94 yards rushing and a fumble recovery on defense while Weber adds 90 yards on the ground.
