Wanted man jailed in Schuylkill
A Schuylkill County man wanted for aggravated assault, and related counts, was apprehended recently.
State police at Frackville said Willis Arthur Fredericks Jr., 44, of 58 Wiggan St., New Philadelphia, was apprehended on Sept. 27 about 2:40 p.m. at his residence.
Troopers said Fredericks was wanted for an assault incident in which he allegedly had an argument with his live-in girlfriend at the residence. During the argument the woman's elderly mother was pushed by Fredericks and fell down steps in the home and was critically injured.
He fled the scene prior to the arrival of troopers. Troopers obtained a warrant for his arrest and made intermittent checks of the home beginning Sept. 24. On Sept. 27 Fredericks was observed at the residence and troopers found him hiding in the home.
He resisted arrest but was subdued and taken into custody.
He was arraigned before District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville in lieu of $50,000 straight cash bail. Troopers said an additional charge of resisting arrest will be filed against him.
Troopers also noted that Fredericks is wanted by Carbon County officials for a 2006 assault case in which he failed to appear for sentencing.
