A Jim Thorpe man is facing theft and related counts following an incident that occurred on Aug. 23.

Borough police said they responded to 112 South Ave., for a report of a unwanted person. On scene officers were told by Denise L. Staubinger that Arthur Scott Hanman, 43, of 49 W. Fourth St., had stolen her prescribed medication.Hanman, who was on probation, was taken into custody and transported to the adult probation office at the county courthouse. He was later incarcerated on a probation violation.Police interviewed Hanman at the prison and he admitted taking the medication, police said. He has been charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, all misdemeanors, and a summary offense of disorderly conduct.
