Adult Day Care

The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a variety of activities planned for October, including a visit from the St. Jerome's kindergarten class and a Halloween party on Oct. 31

Other activities for the month will include: Oct. 3, bingo and pumpkin painting; Oct. 4, celebration of National Cooking/Baking Day; Oct. 10, cooking class; Oct. 15, birthday party; Oct. 16, trip to Boscov's; Oct. 17, Salvation Army service; Oct. 22, sing-a-long with Audrey Christ; Oct. 24, pizza party; and Oct. 25, crafting Mummy jars.

In addition to weekly sing-alongs, exercise sessions, a variety of therapies and social games, the center provides for hairstyling and manicure service.

Both require advance notice. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are served daily.

Anyone interested in obtaining more information about the center, or its services, may call (570) 668-6577 or visit Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Animal blessing

Calvary Episcopal Church, 300 W. Broad St., will sponsor a "Blessing of Animals" event on Oct. 7. The blessing will be held at noon, following the Sunday worship service, in front of the church.

Light refreshments will be served.

Owners will be responsible for keeping their pets under control and cleaning up any "accidents."

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes and the junior membership classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Also on Sunday, a PRC meal and meeting will be held at 11:45 a.m.; resolution session will be held at 7 p.m.; tuff stuff, for junior and senior high school students, will meet at 7 p.m.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, "Forgiveness" study for the women's group begins at 6:30 p.m., drama group meets at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, prayer meeting at 10 a.m., encountering Jesus group meets at 11 a.m., fall sports study program begins at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare meets at 6:30 p.m., "The Story" growth group meets at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, Men's Fraternity meets at 6:30 p.m.; Friday, Fall Missions Rally in Boyertown; Saturday, musician's rehearsal at 8:30 a.m., praise practice at 9:30 a.m., motorcycle ride at 11 a.m.

St. Peter's Union

The Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, Daisies, Brownies and Cub Scouts will all meet at 6 p.m.

Activities for next week will include: Thursday, prayer group will meet at 4:45 p.m., cherub choir meets at 6:30 p.m., junior choir practices at 7 p.m. and the senior choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m.

First Methodist

The Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church. The service will include a children's message offered by Marge Kropp. Sunday school will be held following the message.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, trustees meet at 6 p.m., administrative council meets at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m.; Wednesday, United Methodist Women will meet at noon and the chancel choir will rehearse at 7 p.m.
