Woman cited for theft in Thorpe

A woman was cited for retail theft following an incident in Jim Thorpe.

Borough police were called to the Jim Thorpe Market about 4:04 p.m on Aug. 9 for a theft report. On scene officers were informed by store personnel that Andrette L. Haupt, 52, of 11 N. Walnut St., Lansford, was observed placing sliced American cheese valued at $6.17 and two containers of chicken pot pie valued at $5.49 each into her purse without paying for them.

Haupt, police said, admitted to not paying for the items. She was cited with retail theft, as a felony.
