Idaho driver facing charges

An Idaho driver is facing charges following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 8:18 p.m. on Sept. 25 along SR209 in Polk Township, Monroe County.

State police at Lehighton said Joshua A. Kuntz, 30, of Pocatello, was driving a 1997 Chrysler Sebring northbound when he crossed over into the southbound lane and onto the berm. The car then struck a utility pole causing the pole to break off and lean into both lanes.Kuntz and his passenger, Jhett Kuntz, 2, in a child safety seat, were flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Kuntz injuries were termed major.Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the West End Fire Company and ambulance, and Polk Township Fire Company.The investigation into the crash is continuing and charges are pending, troopers said.
