Palmerton native killed in Florida

A Palmerton native was killed when he was struck by a car in Florida, where he was residing.

Patrick J. Wisocky, 42, of Summerfield, was struck and fatally injured on Nov. 22, his birthday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Wisocky was walking along U.S. Highway 301 on the evening of Nov. 22, and after dark, when he was struck. Troopers said Wisocky was wearing dark clothing and walking in the right northbound lane. The accident occurred about 7:45 p.m.

He was struck by a Jeep driven by John R. Syme, 40, of Ocala, Fla. Syme told police he did not see Wisocky in the lane ahead of him.

Wisocky was born in Palmerton on Nov. 22, 1970, a son of Donna Wisocky-Cronin, and the late Deacon Joseph Wisocky.

Surviving with his mother is a brother, Matthew Wisocky, of Paramus, N.J.; and children Cameron and Christian, of Orefield, Lehigh County, and Kayleigh and Katelyn, of Clermont, Fla.

Services were held in Florida.
