New Castle mishap was snow-related

No one was hurt in a snow-related crash at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 27 at the intersection of Darkwater Road and State Route 61 in New Castle Township.

State police at the Frackville barracks said Scott Hats, 38, of Pottsville, was driving a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser eastbound on Darkwater Road when he lost control of it on the snow-covered roadway.

The vehicle exited the right side of the roadway and struck a fire hydrant.

Police said the vehicle sustained moderate damages and was towed from the scene.
