A Monroe County driver is facing charges, including driving under the influence (DUI), following an incident that occurred on Sunday, Nov. 18, about 2:30 a.m. along Fork St. in Mount Pocono.

Pocono Mountain Regional police were dispatched to the area for a reported accident. Officers were told one of the vehicles involved had left the scene headed north on SR611.

Police located the vehicle at SR611 and Hemlock Drive. The vehicle had severe front end damage and was smoking. The driver was identified as Pedro Maisonet, 29, of East Stroudsburg.

He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest. A check revealed Maisonet's license was under suspension for a prior DUI conviction.

The other driver involved in the crash was identified as Charles Roberts, of Long Pond. His vehicle sustained severe rear-end damage, police said. A passenger, who was not identified, was injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, police added.

Maisonet was taken to the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment on DUI and several motor vehicle code violations.
