Young boy dies in ATV accident

A 12-year-old Walnutport, Lehigh Township, boy died on Saturday in an all terrain vehicle (ATV) accident in Carbon County.

Michael Erik Kulp, of Bark Drive, died at the scene of the crash, state police at Lehighton said.

The crash occurred about 2:20 p.m. on private property located at the corner of Strohl's Valley and Spruce Hollow roads in Towamensing Township.

Troopers said the boy was a passenger on the ATV which was operated by a 31-year-old male family member. Troopers did not identify the family member.

The accident occurred along a wooded trail.
