Jacob Sabol of Lehighton was airlifted to the hospital late Saturday night after crashing his vehicle into a support pole located at the bottom of the Hometown Hill (SR309), near Taggertsville Road. The crash caused the pole and its support lines to lay across all lanes. Firefighters stated that Sabol was seen walking around the vehicle after the crash. Police stated Sabol is facing a drunk driving charge and it is his second DUI in less than two weeks. Responding in addition to Tamaqua and Rush Township police, were volunteer firefighters and fire police from Tamaqua and Hometown. The road was closed for about 45 minutes during the response. No other information was available from borough police as of press time.
