Business men and women from Carbon County gathered Wednesday evening at the Harry Packer Mansion Inn for their "Business After Hours" event, which was sponsored by Heritage Hill Senior Community of Weatherly.

The mixer was hosted by Patricia and Bob Handwerk, owners of the Harry Packer Mansion Inn. Lisa Marie Halecky, marketing director at Heritage Hill, was the guest speaker."We plan these events to allow the business community the opportunity to reacquaint themselves with other members of the chamber. This evening I have the opportunity to reintroduce the members to Heritage Hill Senior Community and the amenities we provide to the elder population in Carbon County, including personal care and our secured dementia and Alzheimer's care," said Halecky."It is great to see so many members of the chamber here especially during the holiday season. It's nice to have the chance to catch up with old friends and to meet new ones," she added.Halecky made a point of thanking Pat and Bob Handwerk for opening the mansion and hosting the event."This is such a beautiful place to meet; everyone loves it," Halecky said.Pat Handwerk had her hands full hosting not only the chamber mixer, but also hosting a Jim Thorpe Olde Time Christmas planning meeting as well.The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce tries to hold a mixer at least once a month. The final event for 2012 will be the annual holiday dinner, which is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Mahoning Valley Country Club from 5:30-8:30 p.m.The dinner will be catered by Macaluso's Restaurant and will feature a surprise celebrity guest speaker and silent auction."The dinner is not just for chamber members. All businesses in Carbon County are welcome to attend," said board member Marlyn Kissner.Tickets for the holiday dinner can be obtained from the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce by calling (610) 379-5000, and must be reserved by Nov. 29.
