N.J. man charged in shooting

A New Jersey man has been charged in connection with a shooting incident in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said Duane M. McClelland, 30, of Lindenwood, has been charged with a felony count of aggravated assault, and charges of simple assault, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct.

According to police on Nov. 5 they responded to 737 Minsi Trail East, in The Estates, of Emerald Lakes, Long Pond, for a report of a male shot in the back with a pellet gun.

On scene officers found Cody Boyle, 22, of that address, shot in the base of his neck directly over his spine. Boyle was alert and conscious but complaining of numbness in his right arm. He was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, but later transferred to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Police said at the LVH a .177-caliber pellet was found to have missed Boyle's spinal cord by about two millimeters. The pellet remains embedded in Boyle's neck, police said.
