Pets in need after Sandy

Published November 10. 2012 09:02AM

Elgrit Russell, Rescue Coordinator of The Animal Defenders is asking for help.

Pets are in need of help also due to the devastation from Hurricane Sandy. He received a plea from Shore Helpers.

"Many have forgotten this truth, but you must not forget it. You remain responsible, forever, for what you have tamed." Antoine de Saint Exupery

Shore Helpers need foster homes for small dogs from the New York area.

For example, one household in Brooklyn has about 15 small dogs. The place was seriously hit by the hurricane. One friend is fostering three, another neighbor took one that was about to die ... they are all wet and cold. There is no electricity, no clean water, no gas and it is freezing inside. The dogs are not going to make it through these few days unless there are more volunteers to take them in.

If you can help, please contact Eva at 212-613-1444 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and 718-743-7252 from 8-11 p.m. You may also email before 6 p.m.
