Michelle Massicott, 24, of Lansford, remained in critical condition yesterday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital after her car collided with a tractor trailer Monday afternoon along SR309 in West Penn Township, according to West Penn Township Police Chief Brian Johnson.

Both Massicott and her 4 year old child were transported to the hospital via helicopter. The child was released with minor injuries.

Johnson said that Massicott was driving south and then drifted into the northbound lane and crashed into the side of the tractor trailer. He added that the tractor trailer driver tried to avoid the car, but it was too late.

Johnson mentioned that the woman, who was recently discharged from an area hospital, told officials she blacked out. The tractor trailer suffered little damage to the driver's side of the trailer and tire, while the woman's car suffered major damage to the front end.
