Another telephone scam victim in Nesquehoning
Nesquehoning police are reporting the second telephone scam within a couple of weeks.
This time, the scammer stole $15,000 from an unsuspecting older person.
Officer Tim Wittke said the scammers call an elderly person, claiming to represent a relative who has been in an accident or is in some kind of trouble in a foreign country, and asks for money to pay bail or hospital costs.
Wuttke advises people to check with other relatives first to verify the problem before sending any money.
If the person calling requests the person receiving the call to not tell anybody about the alleged mishap, it's definietey a scam. Wuttke said the scammers are targeting elderly people.
