The Jim Thorpe Community Athletic Association held a three day Community Block Party at Sam Miller Field in the Heights section of Jim Thorpe.
In addition to rides, games, food, and beverages, there was live musical entertainment each night.
Association member Shawn Sheckler, who is the Vice President of the Jim Thorpe Community Athletic Association said, "we're here to raise money for Sam Miller Field and for the youth of Jim Thorpe and the community."
"We had a very good turnout and a nice crowd on the first night of the Block Party and hope for more of the same for the rest of the event."
Two Jim Thorpe Seniors, Taylor Smela and Angela Strohl, volunteered at the Community Block Party as their Senior project to help benefit Sam Miller Field.
One of the Seniors, Angela, is the great-great granddaughter of Sam Miller who founded the field.
The Association, which is the caretaker of Sam Miller Field, will use the proceeds from the Block Party to help maintain the field.
