Lioness Club grows

The Western Pocono Lioness Club inducted three new members at its last meeting. They were B. Madlyn Reimel, Ruth Hebron and Karen Heckman.

The group heard about the growth and changes at Northampton Community College as Matt Connell, West Ender and dean of the Monroe Campus, and Cathleen Canevari, major gifts officer of the Monroe Campus and also a West Ender, detailed what is happening in terms of the future addition to Monroe's NCC facility.

The club's Patriotic Coloring Contest will be held June 30, at the Chestnuthill Park. More information about the free contest will follow.

Rotary speaker

Jim Amici will address the West End Rotary Club on Thursday, May 31. His topic will be: Paul Davis Emergency Service.

The club meets at 7:30 a.m. Thursdays at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.

All Sports Club meets

Pleasant Valley School District's All Sport Club will meet at 7:30 p.m., Monday, June 4, at the high school library in Brodheadsville.

Touch of Home meets

The annual meeting and organizational election for the Operation: Touch of Home organization is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the American Legion Post Home in Gilbert.

Red Cross Blood drive

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold a Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, June 6 from 1-6 p.m.

VBS at Countryside

The Good News Puppets will be part of the Vacation Bible School at Countryside Alliance in Brodheadsville June 27-29. Sessions will run from 6:30-8 p.m. The church is located at 126 Countryside Drive, off Route 115, across from Pleasant Valley Middle School. There will be games, skits, songs and more. There is no charge.

Cub Scouts sought

Boys entering first through fifth grade are eligible to join Cub Scouts. Cub Scout Pack 98, chartered by Our Lady Queen of Peace, is inviting more families to become involved in Scouting. For more information contact Cubmaster Jennifer Ewing at (570) 350-0315.

The young Scouts can enjoy many activities, including Pinewood Derby, Klondike Derby, snow tubing, hiking, touring and doing community service.

VBS announced

Effort United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School the week of July 30 through Aug. 3.

Prayer breakfast

The 18th Annual Pocono Leadership Prayer Breakfast will take place Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 6:15 a.m., at Camelback Resort.
