Eric M. Sabol, 29, of 215 E. Patterson St., Lansford, has been charged by Coaldale police with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:

Coaldale Officer Joseph Krebs was dispatched at 8:15 p.m. April 19 to 135 E. Ruddle St. for a fight in progress.

Once there, he separated the subjects and questioned them all. All told him they had seen Sabol driving a vehicle. Sabol admitted this, but said he only drove it short distance.

Krebs noted that Sabol's eyes were glassy and bloodshot. Krebs asked Sabol if he had any alcohol or drugs that evening. Sabol said he'd had two beers and smoked marijuana.

He agreed to perform field sobriety tests, and was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

A subsequent blood test revealed that Sabol had marijuana in his system.
