Summit Hill HS Class of 1957 hosts reunion
Thirty-seven persons attended the Summit Hill High School Class of 1957 reunion Thursday during a luncheon at the Mahoning Valley Country Club.
This was the class's fifth reunion in six years with the largest turnout since its 50-year reunion in 2007.
During the program, Martha Solomon Popp led a memorial tribute to the nine deceased class members in the 42-member class.
They are: Helen Daderko, Wallace Kleckner, Diane Zimmerman Lambert, Peter Matrician, Patrick Rutch, Helen Ambrose Sahr, Roger Troeder, Donald Wehr and Eugene Yasson.
Class President and master of ceremonies Bruce Frassinelli of Schnecksville presented a program on the "Golden Age of Radio," with voices of some of the favorite radio programs during the '30s, '40s and '50s, including the Shadow, the Lone Ranger, Fibber Magee and Molly and Superman.
Frassinelli cited and thanked committee members Wilbur Derby of Rehoboth Beach, Del., who offered the invocation; Lorraine Fritzinger Martin of Souderton; Gretel Malkin of Summit Hill; Ann Marie Pisklak Lill of Lake Hauto; Martha Solomon Popp, Lucille Snyder Posh and Walter Williams, all of Bethlehem, and Margaret Ellen Henry Rockwell of Levittown.
Also attending were Martin's husband, Ed; Lill's husband, George; also, Clarence Derby and his wife, Nancy, Alexander Sommers and his wife, Liz, John Petro and his wife, Gerrie, and John Thomas and his wife, Joan, all of Summit Hill; Anthony DiMattia and his wife, Claudia, of Beacon, N.Y.; Nancy Heffelfinger Napoli, Irma Ossanna Leibensperger and Donna Ruth Derby Nalesnik, all of Lansford; Ben McMichael and his wife, Rose Marie, of Hamilton Square, N.J.; George Michalick and his wife, Anna Marie, of Stafford, Va.; Eleanor Mikulsky Slivka and Russell Whilden and his wife, Grace, all of Nesquehoning; David Mollard and his wife, Carol, of Allentown; Mary Ann Perbetsky Melvin and her husband, Robert, of Paoli; Alfonso DiMattia and his wife, Margie, of Bridgewater, N.J., and Stephanie Valent Wehr, widow of classmate Donald Wehr.
