Organizers with the Tamaqua-Carbon American Cancer Society's Car For A Cure event have extended the deadline until June 30.
Rottet Motors owners Mike and Joan Rottet are sponsoring a Ford Fiesta Charity Raffle to help raise donations for the American Cancer Society. They are working together with members of the ACS Telethon committee, spearheaded by Chairman Joe Krushinsky.
Organizers pointed out that this is the first fundraiser of this type that the committee is attempting. Volunteers Jessica Kutza, and her mother, Mary Ann Dulaney, said, "The Rottets anxiously welcomed the idea and are supportive of this new joint venture to raise money to battle the deadly disease."
To purchase a raffle ticket, stop by Rottet Motors, 117 S. Greenwood St. in Tamaqua, during normal business hours. Tickets are $25. Organizers stressed that only 1,200 tickets will be sold. Dulaney said, "By capping the total amount sold, chances of winning are much greater."
The 33rd Annual Live Telethon was held the weekend of April 14th and 15th and wrapped up with over $193,000 in pledges. The Telethon Committee sponsors events year round, including their popular Chinese Auction at Lakeside Ballroom each March and Award Recognition Dinner. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.cancertelethon.org or by calling (570) 645-4228. Participants must be of legal driving age.
