Dr. Megan E. Statkewicz, formerly of Sylvan Beach, N.Y., is to be married to Cory P. Balliet, Esq., of Nesquehoning.

The couple met through mutual friends in Philadelphia, and were engaged on Cayo Levantado in the Dominican Republic.The future bride graduated from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.), Boston University School of Public Health (M.P.H.), and Cornell University (B.S.). She is a 2002 graduate of Camden Senior High School in Camden, N.Y. Dr. Statkewicz is to begin a residency in foot and ankle surgery at St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network in Bethlehem.The prospective bridegroom graduated from Syracuse University College of Law (J.D.) and Lafayette College (B.A.). He is a 2000 graduate of Marian Catholic High School in Tamaqua.He is employed as an in-house attorney at Olympus Corporation of the Americas in Center Valley.The couple resides in Allentown. A September 2013 wedding on Skaneateles Lake in upstate New York is planned.
