The Carbon County Democratic Committee invites the public to celebrate the grand opening of their headquarters with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception on Wednesday, May 23, 5-7 p.m. Their new location is at 110 S. First St. in downtown Lehighton just off the park.

"We are honored to have most of our regional Democratic candidates attending the grand opening of our Carbon County Democratic Headquarters including Ron Rabenold, Democratic candidate in the race to represent the 122nd District in the Pa. House, Tim Seip, Democratic candidate in Pennsylvania's 29th senatorial District and Attorney Matt Cartwright, Democratic candidate in the 17th Congressional District," said Billy O'Gurek Jr., chairman of the Carbon County Democratic Committee's Executive Board.

Initially, the Carbon County Democratic Headquarters will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2-7 p.m. Walk-in volunteers are welcome.

In addition to having this central countywide meeting space available for any Democratic group or campaign, hours will be expanded as needed to include special ongoing training by OFAObama For Americaand the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. Goals will include educating voters, voter registration and assisting those who might have difficulty obtaining proper photo ID which is now required by Pennsylvania's new Voter Identification Law in order to vote in the November election.
