Burglary, theft incidents probed

State police at Lehighton reported on a burglary, theft and criminal mischief incidents.

The break-in occurred at the residence of Norwood Eugene George Jr., 53, of 620 Lower Smith Gap Road, Kunkletown, Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said entry was gained by damaging and prying open the front door. However, nothing appears to have been taken from the home. The incident occurred sometime between May 9 and 11.

Troopers are investigating the theft of road signs along Golf and Dairy roads in Lower Towamensing Township. The signs taken included a stop sign, a 35 and 25 speed limit signs, and one each Dairy Road and Golf Road signs. The value of the missing signs is estimated at $400. The thefts were reported on Friday, May 11.

Troopers are investigating the theft of cash reported by a Monroe County resident. Troopers said Laurie Ann Shady, 43, of 167 Fiddletown Road, in Kunkletown, Eldred Township, reported $525 was taken from a small clutch handbag at her residence. The theft occurred sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Troopers are probing damages made to vehicles in the area of 299 Chestnut Drive, North, in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said tires were slashed on three vehicles. The listed victims are Raymond W. Bross Jr., 49, Judy L. Christman, 70, and Kathy-Lyn Lamoureux, 45, all of Saylorsburg. The incident occurred sometime between 1 and 2 a.m. on Sunday, May 13.
