Juvenile driver involved in chase

A juvenile driver was involved in a high speed chase in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident occurred about 9:27 p.m. on Monday, May 7, along SR423 in Coolbaugh Township. Police said officers were out of their vehicle with a disabled tractor trailer when a vehicle came northbound and the driver failed to obey police commands and fled the scene.

Police pursued the vehicle which crashed at the intersection of state routes 423 and 196. The juvenile driver then fled the scene on foot into nearby woods. He was later found and taken into custody.

The juvenile was charged with fleeing and eluding police, reckless endangerment, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and other traffic violations, police said.
