Tamaqua Elementary/MS students present annual spring concert

The Tamaqua Area Music Department presented their annual Spring Elementary/Middle School Band Concert Thursday night in the school district auditorium.

The concert, directed by Mrs. Marsha Rodgers, featured performances from the Beginner Band, the Intermediate Band and the 6th Grade Band, was attended by over 300 visitors.

The Beginner Band, consisting of 42 fourth graders, played young favorites like "Lamb Chop Rock," "Bugler's Dream" and "Snippets," while 27 students with the Intermediate Band played "Cardiff Castle," "Concerto for Percussion" and "Attack of the Slide Trombones."

Ending the concert, 41 musicians with the 6th Grade Band, performed "Prehistoric Suite," "I. Stegosaurus," "The Battle" and "American Trilogy."

Following the performance, Rodgers thanked the Tamaqua Board of Education, administration, faculty and staff for their support of the music department throughout the school district. She also credited Steven Behr, Christopher Czapla and James Faschnact, Mark Beltz, John Putlunas and all the students' parents, friends and relatives for their tireless effort and support.
