Pedestrian injured attempting to cross highway in Hometown

A Tamaqua pedestrian was injured Friday while attempting to cross Route 309 at the Wal-Mart intersection of Claremont Avenue and Tide Road in Hometown.

Harold J. Klinger, 47, of Tamaqua, reportedly walked in front of a Honda sport utility vehicle driven by Janice Bartolai, 19, of Orefield, who was in the south bound turning lane to turn onto Tide Road.

Rush Township Police responded to the scene just after 12:30 p.m.

Klinger was taken via Tamaqua Ambulance to St Luke's Hospital - Miners Campus. Township police are still investigating.
