Student charged in assault incident

A student at a Lehigh County special education facility has been charged with assaulting a staff member.

State police at Fogelsville said the incident occurred on Wednesday, May 9, about 10 a.m. at the Lehigh Learning & Adjustment Center, located at 2936 Corporate Court, Lowhill Township.

Troopers said a 13-year-old male from Allentown was asked to leave a classroom due to being disruptive. Staff member Tara Kane, 37, of Slatington, began to escort the student from the room when he pushed her.

The student was charged with aggravated assault and placed in the Lehigh County Juvenile Detention Center.

The charge was filed with the county juvenile probation office.
