Woman facing theft counts

Published May 10. 2012 05:02PM

A woman, formerly of Monroe County and believed to be living outside the state, has been charged with theft and a related count and is being sought by police.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said they are seeking the whereabouts of Catherine Harper, 22, formerly of Long Pond. A criminal complaint charging her with theft and receiving stolen property has been filed.

According to police, on April 22 Christina Martinez reported that a gold chain and name plate was removed from her infant while at the Shining Star Day Care, located along SR940 in Pocono Summit.

Later an employee of the day care, Jazzlyn Bianco, reported a gold ring stolen.

A further investigation revealed that Harper, a former employee of the day care, had sold the gold jewelry that was reported missing at the All American Cash for Gold business located along SR611 in Scotrun.

Police said it is believed that Harper has relocated in California.

They ask anyone who might have information on Harper to contact them at (570)-895-2400.
