Police from throughout Carbon and Schuylkill counties responded to a report of a man with a gun in Hauto Estates threatening to kill people. Police from Nesquehoning, Lansford, Jim Thorpe and Rush Township raced to the scene, blocking off SR54. Fire police from Nesquehoning and as far away as Tamaqua, Rush Township and Quakake were dispatched to close the roadway and divert traffic. Several officers drew their weapons with some brandishing assault rifles. Police searched a nearby home but failed to come up with the suspect or a gun. Nesquehoning police are continuing their investigation.
