Monroe crash

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 12:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, along SR423, near SR196, in Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County.

Police said Geovanny Alfredo Gomez, 32, of Tobyhanna, was operating a Nissan pickup truck southbound during heavy rain when a deer entered the road in front of him.

Gomez swerved to avoid the animal with the truck leaving the road and landing in a ditch, then striking a utility pole. After impact with the pole the truck rolled over onto its roof.

Gomez sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
