Student arrested at Jim Thorpe school
A student of the Jim Thorpe School District is facing a charge of possession of a weapon on school property.
Borough police said about 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, they were dispatched to the L.B. Morris Elementary School for a report of a 15-year-old male with a BB gun while on a school bus. Upon arrival officers were told by school personnel the BB gun had been seized. The school personnel also said the teen had been showing the gun to other students.
The teen was interviewed in the presence of his mother and admitted having the BB gun on school property. A juvenile petition has been filed through the county juvenile probation office charging the student with the misdemeanor count one possession of a weapon on school property, and a summary charge of disorderly conduct.
