A Berks County driver was slightly injured in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 10:09 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, along SR183 in Wayne Township, Schuylkill County, in which a deer played a role.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Timothy P. Zerr, 26, of Hamburg, was driving a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser southbound when a deer entered the road in front of him.

He swerved the vehicle to avoid the animal but was unable and hit it.

After striking the deer Zerr lost control of his car which crossed the double yellow line and traveled into the northbound lane and onto the berm where it struck a embankment which caused it to flip over, rolling twice, and coming to rest on its roof.

Zerr was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by emergency personnel. He was then taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment of a minor injury, troopers said.
