During the week of March 12, 2012, 175 students in kindergarten through eighth grade in the Weatherly Area School District participated in a mini-relay for life to benefit the American Cancer Society.

An activity was also held each day after school to promote physical activity.

In addition, each child could donate a dollar or more for the ACS to purchase a die-cut in honor of her memory of a loved one touched by cancer.

The activity was sponsored by the Weatherly Wellness Council, Rebekah McFadden facilitator, and Caylan Neil, Community Income Development Specialist for ACS.

The activities were led by community fitness experts from the Greater Hazleton Health Alliance, Amanda Neidlinger, Zumba instructor from River Run Healing Arts, and coach PJ Hadzick.
