A state police cruiser was involved in a crash in Monroe County on Wednesday, March 28. State police at Lehighton said the accident occurred about 2:55 p.m. along Interchange Road (SR209), in Polk Township.

Troopers said Tammy Vanbuskirk, of Kresgeville, was northbound and started to slow down in an attempt to make a right turn into her driveway. She activated her turn signal. Trooper John Cheponis, of the Lehighton barracks, was behind her and swerved to the right to avoid striking Vanbuskirk's 2003 Dodge Durango.

As Vanbuskirk started to turn her vehicle was struck by the marked state police cruiser. After impact the cruiser continued north in the front lawn at 220 Interchange Road and struck a porch railing, a set of concrete steps and some shrubs, coming to rest facing northwest.

Cheponis and Vanbuskirk were not injured. Damages were turned moderate to both vehicles.
