An 18-month of child was injured when the car he was a passenger in was involved in a crash and the safety seat he was in was not properly fastened. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred about 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at the intersection of SR209 and S. Hand St., in Tower City.
Troopers said Earl E. Grimm, 37, of Williamstown, was northbound on 209 driving a 2011 Nissan Rogue, while Jaclyn E. Astrove, 21, of Tower City, was on S. Hand St., in a 1999 Chrysler Town & Country, stopped for a stop sign at the intersection.
Troopers said Astrove pulled out and attempted to turn left and pulled into the path of Grimm, who attempted to avoid a collision but could not.
The 18-month-old was a passenger with Astrove and was transported to a Pottsville hospital for treatment. Grimm and passenger Amy J. Grimm, 32, were not injured but an eight-year-old female sustained a minor injury.
Astrove and passengers Jordan L. Deiter, 24, of Tower City, and and two females, ages three and eight, were not injured.
