Visitors can learn about coal industry

County was founded on the coal industry and that industry is growing again! The public is invited to join Reading Anthracite Company & West Spring Energy, LLC for Community Day on Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the New St. Nicholas Plant located at 46 West Mt. Laffee Road, Pottsville. Community Day will give visitors an opportunity to learn more about the industry that built Schuylkill County. Visitors will get an up close look at the new Komatsu PC4000 - 850,000 pound Komatsu hydraulic shovel. The day will also feature a tour of an operating coal mine where the latest advancements in the energy industry will be highlighted. Light refreshments will also be served.
