Ruth Elliston, a long-time resident of Palmerton, celebrated her 95th birthday recently. She was born on March 8, 1917.

She current lives at the Village at Palmerton, and is a very active member of her community. Ruth attends exercise programs three times a week, plays bingo, enjoys scrabble with friends, and is a member of "The Villages" Wii Pro Bowling Team.Ruth has raised three children. She worked for the Palmerton Telephone Company for 20 years, and has many fond memories of the big switchboard there. She said that they would get all kinds of calls, even when a customer's television wasn't working.She spends her free time crocheting blankets and scarves for special gifts.
