Tamaqua teachers share hi-tech ideas for the classroom

Tamaqua teachers had a chance to show off new ideas for their students during a recent program at the Restaurant at the Station.

The event, supported by the Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation, is held to foster and highlight innovative programs in public education with the Tamaqua Area School District.

Some teachers chose to display their ideas or how past grant money was used.

Melissa Day, Virtual Campus Coordinator, told visitor State Sen. Dave Argall how remote devices can be used to quiz or questions students.

"The students would enter their answers onto small devices and the teacher would get their answers, thus providing immediately knowledge of what the students are learning," she explained.

Mrs. Jolene Barron, technology teacher, also talked about the advantages of using iPads in the classrooms. She said students can use it to research, record and script information.
