A family of four was temporarily evacuated as firefighters from all four Tamaqua fire companies responded to a reported kitchen fire late Thursday afternoon at 30 Hunter Street.

A nearby family member and the firefighters helped contain the fire damage to a small section of the kitchen of the first floor apartment. Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras and other testers in and outside the home.Multiple exhaust fans were also placed at exits and entrances to the home.Fire police helped police detour traffic the area for the duration of the response. No injuries were reported.
