Class of 1943

The Tamaqua High School Class of 1943 will see a change of plans for its 69th anniversary reunion, which will be held on June 16. Due to a reconstruction project at the Owl Creek Dams, the reunion has been moved to La Dolce Casa, 16 W. Broad St., Tamaqua. Festivities will begin at 11:30 a.m. Reservation deadline will be June 1. Rush taxes

Rush Township Tax Collector Dolores Walck has announced the 2012 tax bills have been mailed to township residents ages 18 and up. Anyone in that age group, who has not received a tax form, should contact Walck at (570) 668-5661.

Office hours for March and April will be Tuesdays, from 9-11 a.m., and Wednesdays, 6-8 p.m. For May and June, the office will be open Tuesdays, from 9-10 a.m. and Wednesdays, from 6-7 p.m. Additional hours will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, April 30. Walck's office will be closed May 22-23, as well as June 12-13.

St. Peter's Union

The Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include Holy Communion and a joyous noise offering. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m. Also on Sunday, the church board meeting will be held at 10:45 a.m. and Confirmation class will meet at 1 p.m., Daisies and Brownies will meet at 6 p.m. DEVO Youth Group will also meet at 6 p.m.

Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, Women's Association of St. Peter's will meet at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Midweek Lenten Service (shared with sister churches) at St. Peter's is at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday Prayer Group meets at 5 p.m.

St. John UCC

The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship. Sunday school classes for all ages will be held at 11 a.m. The weekly radio program will be aired on WASH - AM1410, at 11:30 a.m.

Activities for next week will include: Wednesday, joint midweek Lenten service at 7:30 p.m. at St. John UCC.

Calvary EUM

New Pastor Ed Bean will present the message "Christ We Love" at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Ed is a graduate of Biblical Life Institute, Houghton College End Asbury Theological Seminary and has been a professor at United Wesleyan College. Special music selected and presented by Mrs. Whanda Zuber. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m. Also on Sunday, a praise, worship and Bible study session (Evangelistic style) will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Zion Lewistown

The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m. The consistory will meet on Thursday March 22 at 6 PM.

Trinity UCC

The Rev. Thomas Reinsel, interim pastor, will officiate at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Trinity United Church of Christ. Sunday school classes will meet at 8:45 a.m. The service will be followed by a coffee hour. Activities for next week will include: Monday, Bible study at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, joint UCC mid-week Lenten service at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, senior choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m.; Friday, fish fry from 4-7 p.m.
