Tamaqua firefighters responded just after 3 p.m. Wednesday to the Hess Express gas station in Tamaqua after a fuel tanker truck from Penn Tank Lines began leaking gasoline on its parking lot. Even though the driver and responding firefighters were quick to control and eventually stop the leak, a couple dozen gallons of gasoline had leaked onto the parking lot. Firefighters used oil dry and absorbent pads to control and soak up the fuel. Responding were Tamaqua police, fire police and firefighters from South Ward and Citizen's fire companies. For some reason, all the pumps were shut down for a couple hours following the spill.
