West Penn, New Tripoli and Germansville firefighters helped police close a six-mile stretch of SR309 from Snyders to New Tripoli just before 2 a.m. today for several hours after the unknown driver of a newer white sedan crashed into and toppled a pole and power line.

The crash resulted in power lines and road debris on the road. A short while after the crash, a tractor trailer was damaged after driving over strewn wires and debris. Another short time later, another car was also damaged after crashing into the scattered debris. That car had to be towed away.

State police responded and couldn't find the driver of the car that toppled the pole. Firefighters from New Tripoli helped state police search the area for the missing driver, without success. Also responding were West Penn Township police and fire police.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call state police at (610) 706-0613.
