Shots fired during attempted robbery

Shots were fired during an attempted armed robbery that occurred Monday night in Monroe County. State police at Fern Ridge said the incident occurred outside the New York Pizza Girl business located along SR115, near Fish and Pay Lake, in Chestnuthill Township.

Troopers said a 24-year-old male from Effort exited the business about 9:27 p.m. after closing it and approached his vehicle. Two individuals were outside in the parking lot. One of the individuals, wearing a black bandana with white skulls, displayed a handgun believed to be a stainless revolver. He fired two shots at the victim's vehicle.The victim managed to get into his vehicle and fled northbound on 115. The two suspects fled on foot in a southbound direction, troopers said.The two suspects were believed to be white males, 17 or 18. Both were wearing blue jeans. The other suspect was also wearing a bandana, unknown color.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 646-2271.
