Jim Thorpe announces kindergarten registration.

Kindergarten registration in the Jim Thorpe Area School District for the 2012-2013 school year will be held in April from the L.B. Morris and Penn Kidder buildings. The district offers a full day kindergarten experience for its students.Registration for the Penn Kidder Campus will be held on Thursday, April 12 and Friday, April 13. Registration for the L.B. Morris will be held Monday, April 16 and Tuesday, April 17. Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2012, to be eligible for Kindergarten registration. Parents should call the appropriate school office as registration is by appointment only. A parent or the legal guardian of the child must attend registration. Registration paperwork will not be accepted from other family members.At that time the following documents must be presented:• Original birth certificate indicating the child was born on or before Sept. 1, 2006.• Minimum of two documents that prove residence in the Jim Thorpe School District (tax receipt, lease, utility bill or Pa. driver's license). The documents must indicate physical address of the home.• Immunization records.• If applicable, a copy of any custody agreements should be provided for the school to have on file.Parents are asked not to bring the child to registration.Kindergarten readiness testing will take place in June. Parents will be asked to sign up for a testing day and time at registration. A special Kindergarten Orientation Day is planned for August when the students will meet their teachers and tour their school.Any questions regarding kindergarten registration should be directed to the L.B.
